The CDC is warning that some health foods are potentially fatal, but at least you’ll die from natural causes.

Long ago, people ate stuff straight out of the dirt. They also rarely lived past 35. Eventually they learned to make fire, and learned that if you held your food over it for a little while, it wouldn’t make you sick. Thanks to this revolutionary technological leap we now call “cooking”, food poisoning has become a rare malady, usually restricted to populations that cannot afford fire.

Millennia later, people became so wealthy, they totally forgot why we were cooking our food, and started thinking that their ancestors had the right idea. To make things worse, they decided it was better to fertilize their vegetables with excrement, rather than the nice clean chemicals our ancestors gave us. Raw organic food became a fad that swept the nation, and suddenly people started getting sick again.

According to MRCtv

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is warning of four potentially fatal, multi-state outbreaks – all victimizing people who eat foods typically considered healthful:

  • Alfalfa Sprouts,
  • Organic Shake and Meal Products,
  • Packaged Salads, and
  • Cucumbers

Nine people in either Minnesota or Wisconsin who ate alfalfa sprouts have been diagnosed with the outbreak strain of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157 (STEC O157), which can cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a potentially-fatal type of kidney failure. The CDC has linked the infections to sprouts produced by Jack & the Green Spouts. (full story)

People forget that eColi is completely organic. There are a lot of organic things that can kill you, from deadly bacteria to full size predators. We often forget  we were once part of the food chain, and romanticize a life without mortgages and commuting.

There is nothing natural about living the majority of a century, like most people expect today. Nature assumes that after you’ve passed your reproductive years, you have no purpose beyond feeding a lion or a flock of vultures. Once your DNA has passed to the next generation, you’re no longer a contender in Darwin’s Playoffs. This is the reason why a lot of species die after mating or laying eggs.

Nature is viscous and cruel. It’s why our ancestors fought so hard to conquer it. And they were so successful, people today have no idea what’s still lurking out there.

Do yourself a favor. Cook your food.
