Mars Attacks… Eventually
A Professor who studies extra terrestrial communication, is warning that we shouldn’t be responding to alien transmissions, because they could be more advanced and might do us harm. I’m reminded tof the Twilight Zone “How To Serve Man” episode. (It’s a COOKBOOK!). Personally, I think his fears are unwarranted.
The closest habitable planet to ours is 10,000 light years away. Which means, the signal was sent 10,000 years ago. And it will be another 10,000 years before they get our reply. Assuming they have spacecraft that can travel the speed of light, it will be ANOTHER 10,000 years before they get here.
Expecting the Alien Congress to fund such a mission for 30,000 years is just ridiculous. I’m sure the Alien Space Administration abandoned the Earth Invasion Program thousands of years ago.
(They’re probably focusing on Muslim outreach by now…)
