According to Judicial Watch, the Hillary campaign demanded the censorship of several comedians.

I’ve been saying for a while that the comedy stage is the last ten square feet of free speech in America, and that there are people committed to eliminating it. Now we have evidence.

As long as I can remember, comics have been making fun of political candidates. I would suggest that Tina Fey’s impression of Sarah Palin is the reason why her political career tanked. And I also believe there are well connected political advisers who are aware of it.

Something strange happened in 2009. For the first time since I started doing comedy, it became verbotten to make fun of the President. I always assumed it was because he was black. Now it seems that it was because he was a Democrat, since Hillary believes she should be accorded the same immunity.

According to Judicial Watch, a prominent member of the Hillary Campaign wants the names and numbers of comics who were making fun of her. And she wants a video removed from the Internet. Oh yeah, and there was also a threat for non-compliance.

This is no laughing matter for club owner Jamie Masada, a comedy guru who opened Laugh Factory more than three decades ago and has been instrumental in launching the careers of many famous comics. “They threatened me,” Masada told Judicial Watch. “I have received complains before but never a call like this, threatening to put me out of business if I don’t cut the video.” (full story)

You hear all the time about comedians in Communist countries being arrested and sometimes executed for making fun of leaders. Networks are pulled off the air for refusing to cancel shows that those leaders find offensive. But for some reason, I never thought anything like that would ever happen here.

Now, I’m not so sure.
